Performance upgrade Mercedes-AMG SL 63 R232

707 PS (+122 PS) on production hardware with vehicle-specific Lambda‑GT calibration

From 585 to 707 PS. Effortless – roof open or closed.

Lambda‑GT develops the SL 63 from 585 to 707 PS on its production hardware.

The SL is not a pure sports machine but a roadster with serious grand touring ambitions. The calibration follows this dual role: more power, without the car becoming more nervous in everyday driving. Lambda‑GT presents further stages under Performance packages.

122 PS more – when they are called for.

In relaxed driving, the SL 63 keeps its character unchanged; at full pedal travel, the additional power is ready.

Boost pressure control, cylinder charge and torque build-up are calibrated so that the additional 122 PS are available in the upper load range. Load changes remain smooth and the torque rise even – which pays off especially with the roof open, where engine and exhaust system are perceived more directly.

Calibration

Individual Calibration: tailored to the specific SL 63.

At Lambda‑GT, not every SL 63 simply receives the same dataset.

The SL 55, the SL 63 and the Maybach variant share one platform and the same engine control unit (Bosch MG1CP003), but differ significantly in their data version. Before calibration, model year, software version, emissions variant and equipment of the specific vehicle are read out and taken into account.

Protective functions

The SL 63's standard protective functions are not deactivated for the additional power.

Knock control, exhaust gas temperature monitoring, component protection and limp-home strategies remain part of the engine management.

The upgrade to 707 PS is calibrated within this system architecture – instead of bypassing protective functions to reach a higher power figure.

Data status & release

Developed, tested and documented – for the SL 63.

Lambda‑GT develops a coordinated calibration base for the R232 and adapts it to the data version of the specific SL 63.

Changes are developed against defined targets for performance, driveability and thermal behaviour, verified by measurement and documented. For the roadster, comfort is an equally important target.

Engineering Validation

The calibration is not released after a single power run.

After calibration, Lambda‑GT tests the SL 63 under defined conditions: acceptance drive, power measurement and typical operating states.

These include cold start, part load, extended steady cruising and repeated load runs – a roadster is not only driven on the track.

Dyno Verified

707 PS are measured on the specific vehicle – not taken from a data sheet.

Every SL 63 calibrated by Lambda‑GT is measured on the in-house dyno after calibration.

The customer receives the certificate for their R232 and with it traceable proof of the measured result.

707 PS for the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 – individually calibrated, validated and measured on the dyno.

The Lambda‑GT calibration for the R232 combines the performance upgrade on production hardware with vehicle-specific calibration, technical validation and documented power measurement.

The calibration can also be extended with further functions – such as adjustments to start-up and idle behaviour or defined sound functions. In an open car, Lambda‑GT sets them up with restraint and, on request, in graduated stages. Examples can be found under Real vehicle projects and Personalised vehicle configurations.
